But not the soft, flimsy kind of decision we make on a Monday morning when we’re feeling motivated. This was a deep, grounded decision to not quit.To figure it out.To release the excess weight — no matter what.
And here’s the beautiful part:The word decision comes from the Latin decidere, meaning “to cut off.” When you make a true decision, you are not choosing one possibility —you are cutting off every other path that doesn’t lead to your desired outcome.
It’s the moment you stop entertaining alternative futures.It’s the moment you become laser-focused.It’s the moment your brain stops negotiating and starts aligning.
This is the real beginning of any transformation.
Mind Before Method: Your Thoughts Decide Your Results
Managing your mind is the foundation of everything you want.
Whether your goal is to:
Release excess weight
Run a marathon
Build a business that gives you lifestyle freedom and financial breathing room
Meet an incredible partner

The specific goal isn’t the thing.
The mindset behind the goal is. Once the decision is made, you have clarity.And once you have clarity, you can create a plan.
The 90-Day Road Map: Your Personal GPS
With my clients, with any goal, we always start with a 90-day roadmap. Think of it as your GPS to success — the turn-by-turn directions that take your big decision and turn it into real, consistent progress. This roadmap is designed intuitively, because deep down?
You actually already know what needs to be done.
And if you don’t think you know, we get creative. For example, I might ask:
“What would you need to do to guarantee you don’t lose the weight?”
And you might say:
Be dehydrated every day
Eat whatever’s easiest
Sit all day
Stay up until midnight scrolling
Ignore how you feel
And I’d say, “Great. Those are the steps to avoid. Now let’s flip them.”
Hydration is always one of the first things we uncover. At the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, we spent an entire module on hydrating foods and quality water, because the human body runs on it. Water supports everything — cell growth, oxygen delivery, temperature regulation, detox pathways, lymphatic flow, and ultimately… weight release.
So your GPS might include:
A simple hydration target
A daily 20-minute walk
Packing lunch the night before
Or other life stye goals may include taking a bold aligned action like going on the date or creatijng a IG page for that business you want to launch.
The roadmap is the “how.” The decision is the “why.”And together, they get you moving.
But Then… Your Brain Starts Talking
Here’s the part no one warns you about: As soon as you take a positive action —drink the water, prep your food, go for the walk, step into the new identity…
Your brain will freak out.
It will tell you things like:
“It won’t work.”
“You’ll never lose the weight.”
“You’re too old.”
“Your thyroid… your genetics… peri-menopause…”
“Who are you to do this?”
Your brain is not trying to sabotage you.It’s trying to keep you safe — inside the life you already know.
But success is about learning to overcome the voices in your head.
And sometimes the voices around you, too.
I remember when I developed one of my childcare centres — my accountant cringed at the location, my husband thought it was a terrible idea…
Yet it was FULL within 12 months with a waitlist.
You must expect resistance.You must expect doubt.And you must know ahead of time:
Managing your mind is the most important part of reaching any goal.
Because if you listen to every negative thought, you’ll never take the action that leads to the life you want.
So Where Do You Start?
You start by making a decision. What do you want? Make a SMART (specific, measurable, achieveable, realistic, timely) goal AND you cut off any other possiblitiy,
Then you create a road map to success and manage your mind daily.
Commit to the decision — the decision you made to not quit, to figure it out, and to create the life, business, body, or relationship you desire.
And if nothing has worked before, get support. A health coach (like me!) or a wellbeing coach linked to your GP can help you create your roadmap, stay accountable, and overcome the mental obstacles that derail most mums long before action even matters.
Then you begin.
Yes, the voices will come up.Yes, doubt will come up.Yes, old patterns will come up.
Keep going anyway.Keep it simple.Get feedback.Adjust.Learn.
Become the professor and researcher of your own life. Experiment. Observe. Tweak. And don’t make every setback mean something negative about you.
Because the only woman who fails…is the one who stops.
And you’ve already decided —you’re not quitting.
